Skincare Essentials with Mackenzie Partridge

Hey guys! It’s Rachel. I’m so excited about today’s post! I’ve followed Mackenzie on Instagram for quite a few months now, and I not only love her content, but I think she is just the sweetest person! I was thrilled when she dm’d me and wanted to collaborate! Today she is sharing her daily skincare routine + her fave skin products with you. I loved reading this post because I don’t know much about skincare. I learned a lot + I think you will too!!

Every day is a new battle when it comes to skin care. We would all love to control-alt-delete those pesky blemishes that appear when you least expect them. I thought I would share with you some of my favourite tips and tricks to keep your skin glowing.

Everyones skin is different and it is important to remember that! I, personally, have oily skin. What works for me won’t work for everyone! So you need to find your routine and stick with it. Consistency is always key. You can’t stumble home after drinking a little too much and just fall right into bed. You are going to wake up with some not so nice friends on your chin. Also, Sleeping with your makeup on has to be one of the worst things you could do to your face. You may as well be sleeping in a pore clogging bacteria pool.

First things first, you need to remove your makeup to have your actual layer of skin to work with. Rubbing a facial cleanser on top of your makeup is just moving it around instead of cleansing your skin. I use a cleansing oil from Marshalls! Mine was cheap, but you can also use products like makeup wipes or even coconut oil. Once you have done this, you can then wash your face. I switch between two types of products all the time, one is high end and one is a low end.

Cleanser: The high-end cleanser I use is from Nu Image in Regina and costs about $40. It is the Viverskin Hexam cleanser.

The low-end cleanser is the Neutrogena grapefruit cleanser with salicylic acid and can be purchased at any drug store. It runs about $12.

In the morning I wash my face with cold water to just wake me up and then I use one of the above cleansers every night.

Exfoliator:

I switch between two high-end exfoliators and I use an exfoliator about every three days. When my skin starts to dry out and feels overworked I will quickly exfoliate! The first is the Eminence Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant which costs about $45, but will honestly last you years. It can be purchased from Wrapture Spa in Moose Jaw or beautysense.ca

The second high-end exfoliator I use is the Zo Skin Health Offects Exfoliating Polish, which runs about $89 from Nu Image. This stuff is also worth the cost in my opinion! It will last you so long and truly is the best exfoliator I have used.

The low-end exfoliator I switch between is the St. Ives Apricot scrub. This stuff is nostalgic for me because I used it when I first became interested in skin care. It costs about $12 from any drugstore!

Moisturizer:

The high-end moisturizer I use is the Viverskin Lexxel Moisturizer and it also runs about $75. This moisturizer is great because it does the job without being greasy and leaving a nasty residue on your skin that gives you that oily look. It can be purchased from Nu Image in Regina.

The low-end moisturizer is The Daily Moisturizer by Cetaphil with an SPF of 15. I got mine from Walmart for about $18 and it also works just as great. I usually use this one right before applying my makeup as my daytime moisturizer.

When you have oily skin it is super important to moisturize so that your skin isn’t over producing oil due to dryness.

Those are all the steps I follow everyday in order to keep my skin happy. I also always try and drink an excessive amount of water everyday. I am sure many can vouch for this! If you keep your body happy, your skin will look happy! If you aren’t eating right or keeping yourself hydrated, that is going to show on your skin. Before you go out and buy a million products to save your skin make sure you are fueling your body with the proper nutrients. You can thank me later! Every now and again, I treat my skin with some extra products, which I will list below. I usually incorporate these if I have an occasion coming up or I fall into bad eating habits.
